Abuse Survivors Coalition Demands Systemic Accountability and Title IX Reform Following Baltimore Rally

ASC supports Jane Doe in Cornell University cover-up

On October 8, 2026 members and supporters of the Abuse Survivors Coalition attended a rally & demonstration at Baltimore’s Patterson Park Observatory.  Rallies and demonstrations were sparked by a civil lawsuit filed by “Jane Doe” accusing seven members of the Cornell University chapter of Chi Phi fraternity of a sexual assault/gang rape in 2024.  The response by Cornell University has been woefully inadequate, lacking in accountability, and focused on protecting the institution rather than obtaining justice for the survivor.

Other colleges and universities across the country have responded in similar ways to similar incidents.  The ASC demands systemic accountability, Title IX reform, independent conduct reviews, and the expulsion or revocation of degrees for perpetrators, not minor disciplinary actions.  The ASC deplores institutional coverup of any sexual assault accusation regardless of age, gender, or the identity of the perpetrator and we call for genuine institutional transparency and accountability.

Presented by: Amie Myrick, LCPC

Every organization has a role in protecting children, whether directly serving them, supporting families, or maintaining a workplace where child safety is prioritized. This course explores how organizational culture, policies, and everyday practices influence child well-being, equipping participants with practical strategies to create safer environments for children and families. Participants will examine opportunities to strengthen prevention efforts, improve organizational responses when concerns arise, and build long-term capacity for child protection through sustainable systems, partnerships, and continuous learning. Whether working directly with children or supporting the adults who care for them, attendees will leave with actionable ideas they can begin implementing immediately.
